A Student's Voice

To the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Romualdez Marcos Jr.,

    Greetings!

I am Erin Sofia G. Lubong, from Vigan City, Ilocos Sur. As a concerned student and country citizen, I am writing to you concerning our school, the Ilocos Sur National High School's curriculum. After studying at home for two years in isolation, it was announced that we would have face-to-face classes this academic year. This wasn't a problem, but what concerned me was how the full-blow in-person classes were immediately implemented at the start of the year. I understand that everyone is eager to go back to the so-called "normal" way of learning, but the immediate implementation caused some slight difficulties for some students to adjust and adapt to the new environment.

Moreover, it has also come to my attention that during the first weeks of in-person classes, most students were bombarded daily and weekly with tasks, activities, assignments, and quizzes. I acknowledge the fact that we, students, have to adjust to the old way of learning, but I would have hoped teachers would try a different approach to achieve this, such as by giving minimal workload at the start of the years, and it will gradually increase as time passes.

I will look forward to your utmost consideration of the aforementioned suggestions.

Respectfully yours,
Erin Sofia G. Lubong
