Off to a Strong Start
As I mentioned
in the letter from my previous blog, Information and Communication Technology
was one of the subjects I used to find tedious. I often lacked interest in the
topics discussed during the ICT period, maybe because I tend to think that the
lessons have no practical use and value in one's daily activities or simply
because I'm not tech-savvy.
Newsflash: I was wrong, very wrong.
The first
thing I discovered is, as it turns out (and surprisingly so), our topics have
practical use and value in one's day-to-day routine, especially this
quarter's topic. Its main focus was on one of the most widely-used
forms of technology society uses today, the Internet. Within the span of a
few months, I got to learn its origins and some of its fundamental concepts,
such as its history, the people responsible for why the Internet is what it is
right now, its benefits, uses, and plenty more.
Also, not only
have I gained textbook-based knowledge, but I also managed to discover ways to
easier store and retain the information I learned from discussions. I got to
experiment with different learning methods and techniques until I found one
that worked efficiently, which drastically helped in improving my academic
performance.
A multitude of events happened this quarter. The experiences so far have been both educational and eye-opening, making me eager for what's in store for what's yet to come. This isn't the end, but it is only the beginning.
