Home for the Holidays
The celebration of the Christmas season in the new normal has taken on a different form, as the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about new challenges and restrictions. Despite these challenges, the essence of the holiday remains the same - a time for family, friends, and community to come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The essence of the Christmas season in the
Philippines has stayed the same, even in the new normal. Filipinos are still as
joyful and festive as ever, albeit in a more subdued manner. They decorate
their homes with colorful lights and lanterns, known as "parols," and
light up their Christmas trees. People prepare feasts for their families,
exchange gifts, and sing carols. Our family, for one, celebrated our Christmas
within our household while eating Korean BBQ. The only difference is that these
activities are now done within the confines of their homes instead of in public
spaces.
In conclusion, the
celebration of the Christmas season in the new normal may look different, but
the essence of the holiday remains the same. The COVID-19 pandemic has not
dampened the festive spirit of Filipinos but has only challenged them to adapt
and find new ways to celebrate. The Christmas season in the Philippines
continues to be a time of joy, hope, and love and will always be a cherished
tradition.
