Beyond Roses and Chocolates, there are Cookies

Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated annually on February 14th. It is a day dedicated to love and affection, where people express their feelings and appreciation for their loved ones. The holiday is typically celebrated by giving cards, flowers, chocolates, and other gifts to one's significant other. Couples often go out on romantic dates or spend quality time together. Although Valentine's Day originates in the Christian tradition, it has become a secular holiday celebrated by people of all religions and cultures.

The festivities at school were a sheer delight. The day was marked with an endearing activity, wherein we were granted the privilege of flaunting our relationship status by adorning colored shirts. The jovial atmosphere was simply infectious, and witnessing the creative ensembles of my peers was a feast for the eyes.

While the day was somewhat uneventful, I came home with the scent of brown sugar and chocolate wafting in the air. As it turns out, my sister baked homemade cookies, knowing it was our comfort food. Her thoughtful gesture not only lifted my spirits but also instilled within me a sense of adoration and appreciation.

In sum, Valentine's Day extends beyond the realm of romantic love. It is a chance to demonstrate appreciation for our friends, family, and colleagues who bring color and vibrancy to our lives. It need not be an extravagant or opulent celebration. Small gestures like baking cookies, writing heartfelt notes, or spending quality time together could evoke immense joy and gratitude. Finally, It reminds us to celebrate and cherish the individuals who make us who we are, who uplift us in times of darkness, and who journey with us through the highs and lows of life.
