    Before writing this piece, I asked a few individuals for their insights on the subject matter. One common denominator from their answers is that they often associate the word "labor" with physical labor, therefore referring to the sector in society with a workforce constantly working through exerting physical effort. I also thought of the same notion when I was young, naïve, and didn't know any better. But through a quick search on the web, some light reading, and my own experiences, the first day of May suddenly meant more than just a mere holiday.

    Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated on May 1st in various countries worldwide, including the Philippines. It is a day dedicated to honoring and recognizing workers' contributions and labor rights.
